Loretta Shaffer, a proud graduate of the University of Central Florida, took the reins of the Ocala/Marion Visitors and Convention Bureau as the county Tourism Director in October of 2012. Shaffer works for the Marion County Board of County Commissioners to deliver new and innovative ideas and strategies that increase profitability and accountability for Ocala/Marion County through tourism economic development.

Loretta is a Certified Destination Marketing Executive (CDME) through the acclaimed and highly reputable Destinations International, which is the United States leading travel and tourism association; she is also accredited as a CPM (Certified Public Manager) through the Florida Center for Public Management at the Florida State University and has also received her Lean Six Sigma Green Belt from Florida Atlantic University.

Having over 24 years of diverse tourism industry experience and a proven track record of developing and delivering successful strategic plans and marketing strategies; Shaffer strives to put Ocala/Marion County in the forefront of all domestic and international travelers to further bring awareness, visibility and economic prosperity to the beautiful Ocala/Marion County community.
