VISIT FLORIDA Partners with JetBlue for One-Day Florida Fare Sale to Support the Florida Tourism Industry Following Hurricane Michael and Red Tide

December 07, 2018

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, in an effort to promote tourism to the Sunshine State, VISIT FLORIDA and JetBlue announced a fare sale and trip giveaways to select Florida destinations.

Both business and leisure travelers can experience all that Florida has to offer through the JetBlue Sunshine State of Mind Fare Sale, valid for travel to Jacksonville, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Sarasota-Bradenton, Tampa, Orlando and West Palm Beach. The one-day sale on December 7, 2018, is for travel to the Sunshine State from Boston, New York City (JFK, LGA) and Washington (DCA) through February 12, 2019. Fares will vary by destination. Other terms and conditions may apply.*

The effort is part of a nearly $9 million marketing plan to support the Florida tourism industry following Hurricane Michael and naturally occurring red tide. The multi-channel campaign to promote the fares includes:

  • E-mail marketing to JetBlue customers;
  • VISIT FLORIDA paid social media posts targeting key markets and driving potential visitors to the sale's landing page on JetBlue's website;
  • VISIT FLORIDA paid digital billboards in Boston and New York City;
  • A VISIT FLORIDA partnership with the New York Daily News awarding three trips to Florida and driving potential visitors to the call-to-action page. The exposure is valued at more than $500,000 and includes daily full-page advertisements as well as run of site banners.

VISIT FLORIDA President & CEO Ken Lawson said, "Following Hurricane Michael and this year's red tide blooms, it's more important than ever for us to spread the message that the Sunshine State is open for business. Through this strategic partnership with JetBlue, we are making it even easier for visitors to experience our great state as we work to establish Florida as the number one global destination."

 "The Sunshine State is open for business and we're excited to welcome travelers to our seven Florida destinations," said Nicole Tesser, Manager Regional Marketing, JetBlue. "Florida has so much to offer travelers, from beaches to culture, to art and cuisine. We will continue to work with our partners at VISIT FLORIDA to bring visitors to the Sunshine State.
