TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Yesterday, TripAdvisor listed seven Florida beaches in their annual Travelers' Choice Awards top-10 U.S. beaches list. In total, Florida is home to ten out of the top twenty-five beaches in the United States, including Siesta Beach on Siesta Key receiving the first place ranking. Florida has over 825 miles of beaches, more than any other state in the nation. VISIT FLORIDA President & CEO Ken Lawson made the following statement:

Ken Lawson said, “Thank you to TripAdvisor, and its hundreds of thousands of users, for recognizing seven Florida beaches in their 2017 U.S. Top-10 list, and ten out of their Top-25. These rankings demonstrate the importance of marketing Florida to the world so the tourism industry can continue to employee over a million Floridians.

“With the recent announcement of a record 112.8 million visitors coming to Florida in 2016, it has never been more important to continue to tell Florida’s story so these communities continue to have a large national and international presence. The recent proposal in the Florida House to cut tourism marketing dollars by 67 percent would kill Florida’s ability to garner the positive attention needed to attract more visitors to our state.”
